James Collins joins the Aston Villa Central wallpaper collection for the first time and is one of the first to now also be available in 1920×1200 on top of the usual resolutions.  This is also the first brand new wallpaper to be added to the new mini-site.

You might know already, but the link doesn’t work :-/

(Also, just a hopefully helpful thought – the links to actually download wallpapers at each resolution really aren’t very obvious on the wallpaper pages. Maybe move the links to the top or just underneath the image?)

      i didn’t. thanks!

small technical glitch there, the wallpaper was supposed to go live 15 minutes before this post, but didn’t for some reason.

anyway, fixed now, thanks for letting me know.

i’ll look at the link location too, i tend to agree with you. the backend is also automatically rendering the preview pic as a link to itself which might cause confusion. if you don’t get a clicky mouse pointer when you hover you’ll more lively to look further down the page for the clickies.

Or maybe just link the preview pic to a default/standard/preferred resolution?

actually mate, i apologise, i said i agreed about the link location. i was a bit distracted and thinking about something else, the links are in the right place.

i wish there was a standard, then i wouldn’t need to go to the lengths i do to cover as many people as possible.

the truth is that the most popular resolution among visitors to this site right now is 1280×800, but that’s only 1 in 4. a standard that excludes 75% is no kind of standard.

similarly, the three resolutions i generally use used to cover close to 75% of all visitors, but these days that is more like 55%, with the rest made up of all kinds of different screen sizes. (1440×900 seems to be very popular, but that’s the same ratio as 1280×800 & 1920×1200)

there’s no simple solution, but i’ll give some thought to making the links a bit clearer. after all, they are what we’d refer to as the “call to action”, it’s just that i’m not actually selling anything, i’m giving it away!
