Aston Villa News 24/7

£30 million plus Ireland is an awesone business for the Aston Villa, milner is good, but not the best, ireland is faster than milner, he’s a very good option for the team. It’s my opinion
I really like the style of play. Albrighton, A. Young and even Downing looked to take on their defender at every opportunity.
Many of us have been frustrated at Ashley Young not showing the creativeness and flair that we all thought he had — could it be that it was really being stiffled under O’Neil’s regime? And who knew that we had 3 players like that?
Whatever the reason the lads look like they are having FUN. They seem to either have been given different instructions (attack, attack, attack) or at least no longer fear repurcussions for not following instructions to the letter.
For me – keep the same team. Tell Milner that we’d like him to give us a chance through January — if he doesn’t like where the team is going we can sell him then.
By keep the same team I mean no need for high-priced transfers. Use the young kids, rotate the squad and adjust the game plan to fit the opponent. I think we have the players we just need a better plan. I really liked how MacDonald “risked” losing from a 3-0 lead by getting Bannan and Weimann a few minutes. O’Neil would not have risked it.
To be fair MON, due to tactics, rarely had a 3-0 lead to risk, but I see what you’re saying! I also thought it was interesting that he played Weimann instead of Fonz, saying that the former was currently better in training. Now imagine that sort of thing under MON. (Or does Heskey train like Lionel Messi?)
a lot of people have argued that we would have been far more likely to sit back at 1-0 under MON and that might have some merit. whether that would have effected the result, we’ll never know, but there’s a logic to concluding that we *might* not have won.
i haven’t found out why delfouneso wasn’t on the bench yet. with the nature of the win, i don’t think too many fans noticed his absence tbh.
KMac has said in interview after the game that he selected Weimann ahead of Fonz based on form. He said the Fonz was a confidence player and needed a goal or two. This insight from the manager above everything else I’ve heard and seen makes me think he could be the man for the job. He really does know these kids.
that’s interesting. so safe to conclude that we now have two young strikers nipping at the heels of the senior guys.
probably unlikely to see any new faces up front then. still time for heskey to move on though.
there’s definitely a truck load of positives coming from the game, but i’m trying to maintain a sense of restrained optimism myself.
i can’t deny there was a sense of adventure and fun out there that we haven’t seen for a while and that is probably exclusively down to KMac’s instructions. let’s face it, he didn’t really have anything to lose though, why not send them out with license to attack?
west ham also played their part, they were awful. if they play like that for much of the time between now and christmas, they’re going down, no question.
i’m anxious to see how we approach the next few games. will different tactics and team sheets be employed? will we get similar results?
we shall see, but it’s very exciting at the moment. it almost feels like we’ve got a brand new team in some ways.
Great opener!! You guys needed to come out with a positive match before Newcastle continues our unbeaten home streak!!! GO NUFC!!!!
looking forward to the opener tonight jacob, nice to have the toon back… almost as nice as it was to send you down in the first place!!
