I don’t think I’d classify this as a good day to bury bad news – although your tastes may cause you to disagree, but while we’re all wailing and gnashing teeth over the Alex McLeish debacle, it appears that the new 2011/12 away shirt may have found its way on to the internet.

I stress may because unlike the 2011/12 home shirt, which I have very high resolution pictures I obtained myself, I’m not sure of the authenticity of this one. Close inspection shows that it appears to be using the same template as the home shirt, but the detail inside the collar looks a little different.

I don’t know, what do you think? I was certainly hoping for a white shirt with claret trim, so it ticks that box, but I’m not 100% on the checked pattern.

I’ve put the home and the away shirts side-by-side below so you can see the similarities yourself. It could be genuine, the only question marks I’d place on this away shirt are the shape of the shoulders – but that could just be the mannequin – and the vertical placement of the Nike Swoosh and Villa badge – again that could be down to how the shirt was staged or the photography.

Obviously we’ve got more pressing things to be concerned with right at this moment, but if these do turn out to be the shirts for 2011/12, would you buy them?

    “Would you buy them?”

I wouldn’t buy a hot dog at Villa Park, if they hire that Bluenose gimp…

does the owner/board really thing we are actually going to buy a shirt after they appoint Mcleish???

Like the home kit to relatively remain claret with blue sleeves (as it should always) and that’s fine (truth be told, I preferred the blue collar from 2 years ago vs this past season).

As for the away kit, at first, I didn’t like the all black look…but by mid season, I thought it was ACES! I REALLY LOVED the all black away….so much that if the all white IS indeed the new away kit, I hope the black stays on as a 3rd.

If they get Hughes as new manager I’ll buy it. If they get McRelegatedTwice I’ll not buy anything or go to a game until he’s sacked!

Looks sh*te. Don’t like the checks at all. I guess at least it’s different, unlike the last few which have been pretty similar

Until they get their affairs in order and do the right thing for the club, I will not be buying anything.

I like the kit, ill buy it… and about the manager, is there anyone else to choose from…Wigan Athletic manager said no… that is quite embarrasing

There were, and still are lots more to choose from, most with better stats than some that have been touted.

Here are some stats for points per game for some managers, these were posted over at vita villa:

    Slaven Bilic 2.16
    Van Gaal 2.03
    Koeman 2.03
    Ancelotti 1.88
    Rijkaard 1.85
    Jol 1.82
MON 1.82 (although a lot of that was at Celtic)
    Benitez 1.81
    Hughton 1.81
    Poyet 1.78
    Gerard Houllier 1.76
    Sanchez Flores 1.67
    McLeish 1.67
    Ranieri 1.60
    McClaren 1.58
    Simon Grayson 1.58
    Moyes 1.57
    Coyle 1.56
    Martinez 1.5

those stats contain multiple teams and cup games. if it’s not comparing apples with apples, the value is greatly reduced.

it’s interesting, but you say “to choose from” which is half the problem. it implies that we can simply pick whoever we like and they’ll come running.

if martinez didn’t shatter that illusion i don’t know what will. we’ve been through so many candidates now that no one wants to be seen as sloppy seconds… or sevenths or eighths or whatever it would be.

even mark hughes would probably tell us to sling our hook now.

well, maybe not hughes… anyone got sparky’s? number?

NOT a fan of the checks on either the home or away shirts. The board keep sprouting on about the heritage of the club. Please tell me where checkerboard patterns have featured in our proud history? NEVER…and never should they…

Like the home shirt a lot, and really love the away. I like it when the away shirts switch it up (like black last year).

Also love all the liars saying they won’t spend a dollar supporting villa with AM. Grow up babies. It’s big boy time.

FFS… Shut up moaning about the manager!

Like the away kit, hopefully its sold without the sponsor as well.

  15. Dan 20 June 2011 at 12:27 pm #

i believe the new away shirt will be officially launched and the new sponsor revealed on thursday, but this *is* it.

  16. Paul 21 June 2011 at 1:10 pm #

i like them both i only ever buy the away as for the last few years its been better than the home shirt which is always boring at least this year they have made it a bit more attractive we need to go back to the old days like the old muller sponsored strip with the stripes at least it was eye catching so yes i will buy them both
as for you lot moaning about the manager get a grip so what if he is the blues ex manager if he can sort out our embarissing deffence from last year then we stand a much better chance of getting into europe again so give him the chance to do his job then evaluate him at the end of the season this villa ficle attitude needs to change as for the graffiti on bodymoore heath these fans cannot call themselfs fans graffiting bodymore heath would be like grafiting there own house this is our property they must be really thick !!!!!!

I am not really keen on either home or away the check pattern just doesn’t do it for me!

I miss the V neck and the fitted shirt for the girls bring back a top made to fit a girl football is a unisex game you male shovanist pigs! Not just a mans game remember girls can play football too!!

All I can say to you manager moners give the guy a chance remember Villa are way better than bluse so we won’t get religated let the guy see what it is like to manage a real club.
