I couldn’t ignore it any longer and I had to click on an Aston Villa news alert I had which I knew had something to do with Dwight Yorke, but it was in a language I didn’t recognise so I hadn’t rushed in. Turns out it was Icelandic, but the translator in my toolbar let me down so, none the wiser I ended up finding the source at the Birmingham Mail.
I’ve just been looking for the back story behind the interview and it turns out that he’s hawking some book or other, so I’m reluctant to give him any publicity as he’s an obvious troll. Here’s the bit that really made me laugh though, emphasis is mine:-
Ideally, I would love to manage Villa in a few years. I don’t want to be a manager when I’m old. I want to be young, because I’ve seen the changes in football and I’ve had to change myself as a player. I just hope that somebody gives me that opportunity. If it’s not my first job at Villa then hopefully in the future.
Really Dwight? Really? We’re just some little club who will give a n00b manager such as yourself a shot? Dwight knows full well what sort of regard he is held in with the majority of the Villa faithful.
Obvious troll is obvious. Gareth Barry would get a warmer reception, you’ve more chance of a passionate night with the Pope, Dwight. GTFO.

I'm too young to know what Dwight Yorke did but still he can jog on we want serious managers in the future.
And please refrain from using the word ''n00b'', lol.
that's exactly the point. it doesn't matter where you stand on dwight, personally i couldn't give a monkey's about him, it's ancient history now, it's that we're not a kindergarten for rookie managers.
he knows that though, he's just drumming up some publicity for his book. somehow i don't see him selling too many in the B6 post code though.
Personally, I think Yorke is a bit of a legend Maybe it's just because he was our star striker when I was a kid and starting to support Villa, maybe it was the two goals he scored against Liverpool to keep us in the Premiership on my first visit to VP, but I'm happy to look back fondly on his time at Villa.
Things rather went downhill for him after leaving us – maybe that serves him right, but all that was after he left Villa.
However, I do totally agree that there's no chance we should be giving him an opportunity any time soon as a rookie manager! (Though I'm sure MON could give him some work experience somewhere at Villa, maybe mowing the lawns at bodymoor heath?
he'd make a good striking coach for gabby though!
that's the sort of thing these ex-players should be doing to continue their careers after their playing days are over. either that, or start much lower down the league. the arrogance to even suggest that he could manage villa as his first job in management, regardless of his past, is just laughable.
ince was doing it right, then showed how to do it wrong at blackburn, but was lucky to get back on track at MK. roy keane was exposed as being out of his depth and the messiah shearer flopped big time at newcastle, although he really did need to be some kind of messiah to turn that mess around.
it takes a special talent to go straight into management at the top level and be successful. dwight yorke is highly unlikely to be that talent.
