I likened Wigan to low hanging fruit in the preview, but we’re not going to pluck any today after “freak weather” has caused the game to be postponed. That’s a problem, we really could have done with sinking our teeth into that sweet, ripe flesh ahead of the Boxing Day fixture against Tottenham.

I hope no one asks Gerard Houllier for his opinion on the ability of the English to cope with inclement weather as his Gallic scoffs will surely be interpreted as some kind of anti-English rant.

The picture above was taken from a live webcam at Wigan Pier I’ve been monitoring since the snow began last night and although it’s just a small glimpse, it really doesn’t look that bad to me. Let’s be honest, if they’d have gone ahead with the game regardless and the fans couldn’t get there, who’d have noticed the difference?

Oh well, everyone gets an extra week off, hopefully they can re-charge their batteries, enjoy a little of Christmas and then put on another Boxing Day thriller at the Villa.

Disappointed. Frustrated. Bah humbug.

It doesn’t look like much snow to me either. But I think the UK is worse about dealing with it then even Philly ;-)

i’m hearing 10 – 12″ in surrounding areas in the fairness, but it really only takes a slight dusting for england to come to a grinding halt.

if anyone wanted to invade, winter is the time to do it.
