I’ve been waiting for this interview to be published all day! Ashley Young sat down with The Sun today as part of promotional activity for VMF and has assured fans that he is committed to Aston Villa, despite putting contract negotiations on ice.
All I’m doing is concentrating on my football. I don’t want to be distracted by anything else. I’ve not said I’m leaving and I’m not taking my focus off football.
The fans have been brilliant since I’ve been here, always singing my name. They don’t need to worry about anything with me. I’m delighted with how everything is going, my concentration is 100 per cent on football.
I don’t think they are a selling club. GB and Milly have left but players will leave every club – you just carry on.
He goes on to talk about some little game on Sunday and how much he’s enjoying playing up front.
Nothing ambiguous about what he’s said today. Dubious as the rationale might sound, he’s on record. I suppose an absolutely disastrous season might put a different perspective on things come May, but otherwise there should be nothing to worry about.
There’s nothing to see here, move along now please.
