Wow. What a day! The game wasn’t all that thrilling, but Liverpool have been beaten at Villa Park for the first time in 13 years thanks to a superb strike from Stewart Downing and, with the other results today, we end up finishing in 9th place. A top half finish, on top of the Midlands once again despite our worst performance over 38 games for five years.

And… if that wasn’t enough, Birmingham City were relegated, initially thanks to hapless Wolves getting one back to finish 2-3 against Blackburn, but then Pavlyuchenko scored a second goal with practically the last kick of the game at White Hart lane to put the finishing touch to it.

Not much else to say at this stage, is there? That’s the 2010/11 season finally put to bed. Man Utd are the champions, we finish in 9th, Birmingham, Blackpool and West Ham are relegated.

Nigel Reo-Coker and Ashley Young were given the opportunity to soak up some applause from the crowd with late substitutions, perhaps signalling their last games in claret and blue, but there will be plenty of time to discuss that.

For now though, today is a good day, enjoy it!
