Warnock Takes The Three Shirt
Written by Dan on August 12, 2010
Squad Numbers for 2010/11 have been announced and the only significant change is Stephen Warnock taking the number 3 shirt after Freddie Bouma left the club at the end of the season. If you’re wondering what Freddie’s up to, I’ve heard nothing since he went back to PSV on trial in June and I’m assuming that’s still the case. Perhaps no news is good news, but surely we would have heard by now if they were going to pick him up.
Elsewhere in the squad, yes, James Milner is listed at number 8. I probably shouldn’t presume, but there’s no reason why Stephen Ireland won’t take it, he obviously can’t have the 7 shirt he currently has at City.
The official site say that Bannan, Lowry, Baker and Parish all get numbers, but Bannan had 46 last year, Baker was 48 and Lowry had 51. Parish is the only one to get a squad number for the first time and with Marshall already gone and the wage situation being what it is, there’s no question that he’s the number 3 goalkeeper for 2010/11.
