Aston Villa 3 Hull City 0

Aston Villa coasted to a 3-0 victory over Hull at Villa Park this after with goals from Richard Dunne & James Milner to re-take fifth place in the Premiership.
I wasn’t able to watch this game live, so I’ll be brief, but I’ll do a more in depth review, probably with a statshack, once I see the game in full later this evening.
Richard Dunne opened the score with a shot from about 8 yards out supplied by Milner following a corner. Milner added the second himself in the 29th minute in what may be seen as slightly controversial circumstances. Unusual at least.
Hull’s goalkeeper, Matt Duke, came out of his area to clear the ball out to touch, but Steve Sidwell, acting as ball boy, quickly supplied Gabby with the ball and he took the throw-in quickly to James Milner. Milner then lobbed the ball into a virtually open net from 25 yards. A gift really.
@paulmwilliams said that the atmosphere changed at Villa Park when Jimmy Bullard had to limp off with what appears to be a recurrence of his knee injury. The Villa faithful did themselves proud by giving the likable midfielder a warm round of applause as he left the pitch.
John Carew added a late third goal from the spot after Matt Duke fouled Ashley Young, earning himself a booking in the process.
Liverpool were held to a goalless draw at Ewood Park – a reminder that we shouldn’t be counting any chickens ahead of our Carling Cup Semi-Final encounter – so Villa move two points clear in fifth place. Happy days!!
Look out for the Actim Top 100 posts in the near future, with Milner starting to augment his hard working performances with assists and goals, I’ve a feeling he’s about to start moving up the table.
