Wolves 1 Aston Villa 1

A quick overview…

A strange game this one, perhaps the nature of the local derby crept in and affected one or two performances. In truth, there wasn’t anyone in Claret and Blue who gave a particularly good account of themselves. Although Wolves should be given some credit for shutting Villa down, the quality in the final third just wasn’t there from the visitors.

Despite not giving their best showing, since neither keeper had much to do during the course of

Worst. Photoshops. Ever.

The Guardian seems to have a strange feature built around user submitted Photoshopped images. Gabby Agbonlahor is the subject of the latest addition and they’re truly bad.

No, I don’t know either. Note to The Guardian – please stop. Just stop.

Look What I Made

As it’s coming up to Halloween I decided to carve myself a Jack-o-lantern, but those scary faces have been done a thousand times. I could be the first to carve an Aston Villa Jack-o-lantern though…

The Heskey Text Transcript

One of my favourite blogs, Dirty Tackle, has managed to exclusively obtain a transcript of the bust up between Capello and Heskey:-

Capello: Emile! What do you have under the table?!
Heskey: …nothing.
Capello: Your hands are doing something under the table! What is it?!
Heskey: Noth-
Capello: You better not be texting! Do you dare break the Law of Capello against having phones at meals?
Heskey: I’m knitting.
Capello: No you’re not.
Heskey: I’m playing Gameboy.
Capello: No you’re not.
Heskey: I’m having thumb wars against myself.
Capello: No you’re

The Plaudits Keep On Coming

It’s not often that I get to link to Horticulture Week, but I’m delighted to direct your attention to the news that Aston Villa’s Jonathon Calderwood recently picked up the Groundman’s Groundsman of the Year award.  I guess that’s the equivalent of the Players’ Player of the Year.  I’m awaiting confirmation of who won the Groundman’s Young Groundsman of the Year.

I’m sure you’ll all agree that Jonathan does a brilliant job, I know Jack Woodward is particularly fond of comparing

Shorts – News You Probably Already Know

Definitely news we already knew, Stewart Downing may be fit before Christmas.  Or New Year.  Basically, nothing different from when he came to the club in the summer. Still, it’s nice to be reminded of his existence.

The reserves were recently held to a scoreless draw in Stoke, but the Academy smashed Reading for six at home.  New picks Halfhuid and Carruthers were involved. Nice.

You can listen to MON interviewed by Stan Collymore on Talk Sport here. Worth

How To Win Friends And Influence People By Emile Heskey

As a rule I try to avoid the more scurrilous stories, but as I decided to opine on Emile Heskey’s apparent cry for first team action recently I feel strangely compelled to continue the trend with the most tenuous of links.

Apparently there was a story in one of the Sunday rags about an unnamed England player sending Fabio Capello into fits of rage for using their mobile phone during dinner while away on England duty.

Well, guess who’s not endearing himself

New Site Feature – The Villa Wire

I’m very pleased to announce the addition of a new feature at Aston Villa Central – The Villa Wire. (Screen shot below).

It’s basically a news aggregator that brings all the latest posts and articles from the various Aston Villa blogs and websites all into one simple page. It also searches out the latest pictures and videos that are tagged as being related to Aston Villa from Flickr and YouTube. There’s even a Twitter section.

I’ll be continuing development
