Darren Bent: Settled, but misses Call of Duty + brief international preview

Written by Dan on February 8, 2011

Umbro have follow up their Diamond Icons video featuring our own Darren Bent with a Q&A where he goes beyond talking about tattoos to reveal how he’s settling in at Aston Villa.

How have you settled into the [Aston Villa] changing room?

It’s been great to be honest, I’ve known a lot of them already so that’s helped. I’m quite surprised that they haven’t tried any pranks out on me so far! There’s plenty of jokers in there, and they’ve made me really welcome. You’re always going to be nervous, it’s like the first day at school, but I’ve actually settled in really well.

You’ve got two goals quite early in your Aston Villa career, how important was it to get off the mark?

When you go for a big transfer, I believe it’s always important to get the first goal as quick as possible. It settles you down, that’s definitely what it’s done for me, and it’s great to get another one so soon afterwards, against one of the best teams in the world.

You’ve always been into your gaming, what’s your favourite at the moment?

It’s still Call Of Duty, I’ve not been on there for ages what with moving and everything, but I’m looking forward to getting back on it. They’ve been talking about it in the changing room here, and it’s been killing me not being able to join in just yet, so I’m looking forward to taking them on and giving them a pasting!

Internationals

Darren’s away with the England squad right now along with several Villa team mates, but one Villan who didn’t make the trip to Copenhagen was Gabby who pulled out of the squad for “personal reasons”. Carlton Cole replaced him.

England Under-21s are in Empoli to play a young Italian side, kicking off at 2pm GMT (you can watch live online at TheFA.com). Kyle Walker was promoted to the senior side of course, but Marc Albrighton and Nathan Delfouneso are both in the starting XI.

Richard Dunne and Ciaran Clark will play alongside each other tonight for Ireland against a Welsh side captained by James Collins in the first game of the Carling Nations Cup. Set pieces should be interesting. That game kicks off at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin at 7.45pm GMT, live on Sky Sports 1.
