Wow!!  What a game!!  Game of the weekend perhaps??  I’m seeing a few comments around the interwebz from the neutrals saying what a great advertisement for the Premier League this was.  Can’t disagree with that.

More importantly from a Villan’s perspective; we took the all important 3 points. Statistically speaking, Everton bossed most of the game and will no doubt feel aggrieved to come away from the game with nothing. But hey, points are won in football on only one statistic – goals. Sure it was certainly a mistake on Everton’s part that gifted us the second goal, but take nothing away from the way Ashley Young took the opportunity.

And as for the winger’s winner, well what can you say? I’m sure that will be shown on MotD a few times, despite the Big 4 bias. He just keeps getting better. But what makes him such a great player is his commitment and effort. He never stops running and gives 110% almost every game.

Anyway, as already mentioned the 3 points were vital and they’re in the bag now. We’ve been patchy in form recently and I’m sure MON doesn’t need telling to do everything possible to build on this as a platform for the rest of the year.

Looking at the Premiership fixtures between now and 2009 we have Bolton coming to VP next Saturday. Hopefully this isn’t going to be yet another banana peel in our season. A week later we’ll be at Upton Park, another tricky tie. And then on Boxing Day we’ll be hosting Arsenal and if things go our way up to then it’s going to be a massive 6 pointer. Last Boxing Day’s game at Stamford Bridge was one of the games of the season, could we see another Thrilla from the Villa?? It’s all setting up very nicely.

We’ll be seeing out 2008 at Hull, the surprise outfit in the league this year. I can’t see them as a serious rival over 38 games, but right now they’re biting at our heels and it’s important the team play like that’s the case.

Anyway, the site’s still under construction, so we’ll call it a day there. A great result today and it’s a good day for Villans all around the world!!
