Highlights from the NextGen Series will more than likely be a little thin on the ground and will rely heavily on the participating clubs’ own media departments. Fortunately, Ajax TV have done a good job of putting together this video from our 2-0 loss in Amsterdam in the opening game last week.

Of course, there might be a little bias in the edit, but this seems a fair reflection of the game from as much as I could gather. Mickey van der Hart, in the Ajax goal, was forced to make a couple of smart saves and Daniel Johnson struck the woodwork with a free kick late on, but Benjamin Siegrist was by far the busier keeper.

Of course, Ajax are world famous for their youth academy, there’s no shame in being beaten on their own turf. The next match is on September 28th when Fenerbahce come to Villa Park. The Turkish side have yet to play a game in the NextGen Series, but by the time they come to Birmingham they too will have taken on Ajax in Holland.
