Here’s a new Aston Villa wallpaper featuring Ashley Young and Gabby Agbonlahor – It’s a Villa Thing… You Wouldn’t Understand!
As usual, it’s available in 1280×800, 1280×1024 & 1024×768 for your desktop, but for the first time I’ve also created an iPhone version.
Aston Villa were finally able to find the quality required to earn themselves a Peace Cup semi-final match against Portuguese champions, Porto, on Friday. It didn’t come without any drama though.
If Villa’s opening Peace Cup game against Malaga was disappointing in both performance and result, this one made up for it. Eventually.
Emile Heskey had recovered from his bang on the head, so apart from Guzan getting a start in goal, there were no major surprises in

Actually, nothing overly interesting here, just the opportunity to use a cheap innuendo.
These are the balls Aston Villa will be playing with next year… fnarr fnarr!! On the left is the Europa League ball and the one on the right in the new EPL ball, which, if it’s worth having an opinion on, I’d say is a bit ugly.
A jazzy video featuring the irritating Peace Cup Theme Tune. Doesn’t matter how many clever editing techniques are used, it’s difficult to make it look like there’s anyone at the game.
John Carew’s look over his shoulder as he walks down the tunnel at the end of video made me chuckle for some reason.
Atlante are a Mexican Primera División team who now play in Cancún after relocating from Mexico City a couple of years ago. They’re a late addition to the Peace Cup tournament, replacing Celtic, and it’s actually quite odd that they were able to attend; Mexico’s Primera División kicked off on July 24th.
The Mexican league operates a two championship per season “Apertura” & “Clausura” system popular in Latin America. Atlante finished 14th in the last Causura, but 3rd in

This is a little meme I made last year. Probably right around this time actually. It’s Déjà vu all over again.
Oh go on then, you can have a bonus Darth Villa for no other reason than I made two and I’ll probably never find a reason to drop this one in.
Scotland vs New Zealand during the 1982 World Cup.
The significance? Skip to 1:58 and marvel at our very own John Robertson’s strike into the top corner. I’d love to know if the odd free kick routine was planned.
So it’s John Robertson, it’s a nice free kick, so what? Glad you asked – the match was played in the Estadio La Rosaleda, Malaga, where Villa are now playing their Peace Cup games. John would be forgiven if

I’m currently one of a handful of people watching Malaga vs Atlante – by the way, Atlante just achieved what Villa failed to do by scoring. As you’ll probably be aware; if Malaga get any sort of result from this game then Aston Villa can not play any further part in the competition after the game against Atlante. If Malaga lose today then Villa have a chance of making it to the semi finals with a convincing win

I was surprised at some of the criticisms I’ve read from Villa fans about the new 2009/10 home shirt. Two common themes seem to be, a) nothing special/innovative and, b) too similar to last year’s shirt.
In my opinion, Claret & Blue are best served simple, it’s very easy to create an absolute nightmare. Last season’s shirt was simple, classic even, so there was little to improve. Hence the similarity. A couple of common complaints last year
