Payments To Agents Disclosed
Written by Dan on November 30, 2009
I believe that as part of tougher financial rules imposed on Premiership football clubs in the interests of transparency that payments to agents now have to be disclosed. I first spotted this story earlier on Newcastle’s website where they explained that the figures may include “payments made by the Club on behalf of players”, whatever that might mean. As the news seems to be breaking across the board, I’m assuming that we’ve reached some deadline to report the numbers, but this is entirely off the top of my head so don’t quote me.
Anyway, it’s a good excuse to post a table where, although we’re bottom half, our numbers are encouraging. No surprises who tops the table at all:-
Man City | £12.87m |
Chelsea | £9.56m |
Liverpool | £6.65m |
Tottenham | £6.06m |
Wigan | £5.52m |
Arsenal | £4.76m |
West Ham | £3.57m |
Portsmouth | £3.18m |
Bolton | £3.16m |
Everton | £2.00m |
Sunderland | £2.00m |
Aston Villa | £1.70m |
Blackburn | £1.61m |
Hull | £1.59m |
Man Utd | £1.51m |
Fulham | £1.46m |
Wolves | £1.23m |
Birmingham | £0.97m |
Stoke | £0.71m |
Burnley | £0.46m |
Citeh have spent more than 7.5 times as much as Aston Villa on agents fees alone. The mind boggles, it really does.
