Reo-Coker Not In Carling Cup Squad
Written by Dan on September 23, 2009
That’s the word on the street anyway. I’ll be confirming the team sheet on Twitter, as always, but I’m hoping this little snippet of info isn’t accurate.
Stuart James at The Guardian had me confused on Monday with his view of what was likely to happen. His opening paragraph contained this information:-
Martin O’Neill has sought to draw a line under the incident that saw him clash with Nigel Reo-Coker during a training-ground practice match after the midfielder apologised for swearing at the Aston Villa manager.
While the article closed out with:-
The Villa manager is not expected to brush what represented a challenge to his authority under the carpet and it remains likely that Reo-Coker will move on when the transfer window reopens in January.
So, which is it? Is MON drawing a line under the incident, or is he intending to carry a grudge until January when he can unload the player?
I’m hoping it’s the former and that’s why I’m hoping that he will be in the squad today. Sandy Macaskill at The Telegraph has bad news for me.
