Time Heals All Wounds

I’m starting to think that losing the opening game against Wigan will turn out to be a good thing, if given time. Whether the Peace Cup could be dismissed as just pre-season or not, we were on a high from picking up a trophy and arguably “discovering” some hidden gems among our reserves.

Wigan was definitely a wake up call. The players lost their day off and were dragged in for training yesterday. No one at the club is happy with the performance and seem genuinely keen to get it fixed. Good. That’s the reaction I love to see.

There’s a certain section among the fans who seem intent on feeding silly rumours. I’m still reading this nonsense about John Carew in forums and blog comments today, despite it being patently false.

I know it didn’t start in Birmingham, but with the distractions Luke Young has to deal with right now, rumours about him are particularly distasteful.

For those among you who want to keep feeding the BS and don’t know what a self fulfilling prophecy is, let me Google that for you.

Granted, it takes more backbone not to subscribe to the vibe that there’s something rotten in the state of Denmark lately, but that’s closer to the definition of “supporter” than spewing some of the bile and venom I’ve read floating around the interwebz recently.

The next few games are crucial for the club. The support, or lack thereof, from the fans could well be a massive factor in shaping the whole season. Are you going to help or hinder?
