Warnock, Milner and Heskey Named In England’s Provisional World Cup Squad
Written by Dan on May 11, 2010
Fabio Capello has just named his 30 man provisional squad ahead of the World Cup next month and it’s good news for Stephen Warnock, James Milner and Emile Heskey. Not such good news for Ashley Young, Stewart Downing and Gabby Agbonlahor then.
As you’ll see in an upcoming post on the Actim Index Top 100, Gabby is the highest ranked English striker, above Wayne Rooney, but apparently isn’t good enough for England. Emile Heskey does make the cut, but they are, of course, different types of player.
I’m sure there will be plenty of debate about the qualities of Walcott, Lennon, and Wright-Phillips in comparison to Ash and Downing.
The biggest debate seems to be the inclusion of the once retired Jamie Carragher who didn’t want to be used as cover before, but now is apparently happy to his utilitarian qualities back to the national fold.
30 Man Squad

- Forwards: Darren Bent, Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Emile Heskey, Wayne Rooney
