0% Villa: Good Luck to The Eagles
Written by Dan on January 17, 2009
I’ve lived in US & A for nearly 4 years now and I’ve tried to follow American Football, but by the time the games come on TV on Sunday I’m all done with sport after watching all the Premiership games. I used to be really into NFL when it was popular in the UK in the late 80’s/early 90’s, so it’s fair to say that it’s not because I don’t understand it. In fact, note to Donovan McNabb – even I know there’s a time limit to overtime!!!
There are some things I like about American sports which I think would translate well in the UK, but much more I don’t. With NFL I dislike that it takes 3 to 4 hours to play 60 minutes on the clock. There’s really only one reason for this and that’s to shoehorn in as many commercials as possible. I truly believe that the main reason real football has struggled to succeed here is that the TV networks hate having to go 45 minutes without commercials.
Anyway, I could talk at length on that subject, but the point of this post is to wish the Philadelphia Eagles the best of luck tomorrow in the NFC Championship game in Arizona against The Cardinals. Without any real allegiances I should be a Browns fan of course, but they’ve had a poor season and just about everyone I know around here is an Eagles fan.
I don’t have a bad record at calling the big games and I have a good feeling that the Eagles can win it. In the AFC Championship game I’m not so sure, but I should back The Steelers to beat the Ravens to make an all Pennsylvania Superbowl.
You have no idea how much the TV networks would hate that though!!
Fly Eagles Fly!!!
