Aston Villa 0 Arsenal 0

After a very tough 90 minutes at Villa Park tonight, both sides left he pitch as they had entered it at 0-0. Arsenal rattled the frame of Brad Friedel’s goal twice, but otherwise it was Aston Villa who bossed most of the game. In the end though, for all their industry, the home side were still unable to find their first goal in the Premiership since before Christmas.

I’ll do a full review with the Statshack later as it’s currently all square 3-3 on aggregate in Manchester in the other Carling Cup semi-final and I’d like to see who we’re going to face at Wembley. As Twitter was full of lag today I decided to do a live blog during the game, so go here and trawl through my rather manic commentary to see if you can decipher what happened.

In the end, perhaps a little frustrating that we weren’t able to seriously force Almunia into a worthwhile save, but we gave more than our fair share against the team looking to go top of the table with a win.  Not too shabby from that perspective, and we still have a game in hand over Liverpool who are just a point ahead in fifth spot.

The race for fourth is still very much alive.

Unlike Citeh’s final hopes as Wayne Rooney has just hit what must be the winner in injury time.  Looks like Utd in the final then.
