Eyes Around The World Turning Towards Wembley And Win A Signed Shirt

Written by Dan on February 24, 2010

I just wanted to take a quick moment to fill you in on a couple of things that caught my eye in the feeds this morning.

Firstly, if you’re in San Francisco, The California Lions Club says the place to watch the game will be Kezar Pub who will be opening their doors an hour before kick off at 6am. Those of us with fresh enough memories of World Cup 2002 will understand the dedication it requires to get yourself up and down the pub at that time of day. It will be worth it though!

If you’re in Australia, you have the opposite problem of course, which is actually staying awake. Kick off time in Sydney will be 2am (Monday morning) and thanks to Villans Worldwide I discovered that the game will be screened live in Cheers on George St, which is a bar I’ve stumbled out of a few times!

Here on the east coast, I’m not sure I’ve seen it explicitly stated yet, but I’d bet a large sum of money that you’ll find the New York Villans packing out Nevada Smith’s, which isn’t a bar I’ve stumbled out of before, but I really intend to fix that next time I’m in NYC.

If you’re heading to Wembley, The Greyhound Pub, which is just a stone’s throw from the stadium, will be exclusively for Villa fans, full details at AVFCForums.  I can neither confirm or deny that I’ve stumbled out of The Greyhound before.

Of course, there will be pubs and bars packed out with Utd and Villa supporters all around the world, but I just wanted to share a few that reminded me today that football fans everywhere will be watching Villa attempt to win their first silverware in 16 years on Sunday. No pressure!!

Gabby Interview By Aussie Fox Sports

And finally, I just spotted this video at Vital Villa and it’s well worth a quick watch.

Fortunately, Gabby’s employed to score goals, not discuss Jean-Paul Sartre. I don’t think we need say much more than that and it’s interesting enough fodder. If you watch until the end, you’ll get a quick glimpse of Mark Bosnich’s memories from winning the League Cup back in ’94.
