Not the greatest surprise in the world, but the news is just breaking that Marlon Harewood will be joining Newcastle on loan and is expected to travel with his new team mates to Ipswich at the weekend.

A move like this was always on the cards and it’s frankly quite surprising that it’s taken this long. Marlon has effectively dropped down the pecking order to be fifth choice striker at Villa, but that’s never stopped him giving 110%. Anyone who’s seen him playing in the reserves where he celebrates and congratulates the youngsters on every goal like they’re scoring at the top level will pay testament to that.

I hope the move works out for him, he deserves to be playing first team football somewhere. Good luck Marlon.

Speaking of Newcastle and Villa players out on loan, Shane Lowry recently travelled up to Newcastle with his temporary team, Plymouth Argyle. Something he should get used to as I believe Plymouth have to travel the most miles every year in professional football. Sadly they were beaten 3-1 and hopefully that’s not something to get used to since Plymouth are already struggling at the bottom of the Championship without a win in 8 games. However, that can only be good experience for the young Aussie though.
