I Have Good News And Bad News…

…Emile Heskey is considering his future at Aston Villa

…I lied about the bad news.

Sorry Emile, I couldn’t resist. I’m sure you’re a really nice guy, your fellow professionals often sing your praises from the rooftops and they are surely in a better position to appreciate your talents than we fans, but it just isn’t working for you at the Villa. With all due respect, I don’t think you’ll find too many Villa fans who will go out of their way to dissuade you from looking for a starting position elsewhere. Nothing personal.

Actually, let’s just have a look at what our Emile has been saying:-

I’m happy to be playing for England and, obviously, not playing at club level is difficult. It’s something I will have to look at when I get back and try to address it. I will have to sit down and think about my next move. I don’t know whether I can get a World Cup place if I’m not playing for Villa.

The manager [Capello] hasn’t really spoken to me about it. I just have to keep performing well in training and keep going. But you always wonder about those kind of things, whether it will affect my chances. I will just have to try to address it when the time is right.

I’m never going to give up. It’s just another hurdle I have to get over. I just have to try and keep my spirits up at Villa. I must keep going, keep training hard and then just try to address it. We will see what happens. But you would have to ask the manager [O’Neill] why I’m not playing.

Really? No offense to Emile, but I’ve got a pretty good idea why he isn’t playing much for Villa and I’m sure I’m not alone in being more interested in asking Capello why he is playing than asking O’Neill why he isn’t!

He’s got some serious competition snapping at his heels for his England place, he’s really got to take every opportunity he gets in a Claret & Blue shirt to show his mettle. If he could weigh in with a few goals and the odd assist or two he’ll be doing his chances no harm whatsoever. And you won’t hear any complaints from the Villa fans either!

C’mon Emile, prove us wrong!!
