10 years ago John Gregory’s Villa reached 40 points after 21 games. Then things went wrong and Villa slipped down to finish in 6th. Today, MON’s Villa side reached 41 points from the same number of games, a new record. The omens are good though, shouldn’t be a case of Déjà vu.
Goals from Curtis Davies and Gabby Agbonlahor (or a Scott Carson OG) in the first half was enough for the 3 points, despite a consolation goal from James Morrison early in the second half.
The local derby game returns to Villa Park, can we expect another 5-1 type thrashing?? Well, we’re not exactly firing on all cylinders right now, but we’re still winning. With the fixtures around us it’s another case of the result being more important than the performance.
A tale of broken laptops and playing Football Manager help back up the case that Randy, MON & his team are here for the long haul.
A local’s experience of when the big boys come to town. Well worth a read.
We’re through to the 4th round of the FA Cup and will travel to either Cheltenham or Doncaster during the weekend of the 24th of January. But it was another unconvincing display from the Villans with few positives except the result.
Villa’s scrappy 3rd round win against Gillingham earned us a place in the 4th round draw. And we won another away day to lower league opposition. Anyone else concerned that we don’t seem to turn it on against smaller teams these days??
Harry Redknapp is opening his big mouth again about potential transfer transactions. Now he’s claiming that Portsmouth want more than £20 million for Jermaine Defoe. Who’s got that kind of cash?? Well, Citeh obviously. 2+2=5??
