Villa’s Fitness Woes And der Hammer

Not the greatest of shocks, it was looking dicey 10 days ago, but it’s been confirmed that James Collins and Carlos Cueller will not be available for the season opener against West Ham on Saturday. As far as I know, Richard Dunne came through Ireland’s 1-0 loss to Argentina unscathed and there should be no issue with Ciaran Clark.

Curtis Davies and Gabby Agbonlahor are both back in training and there’s some optimism that they will be available. Ashley

Richard Dunne Recommends Expanding The Irish Contingent

Martin O’Neill wasn’t the only one talking to the press today. It probably shouldn’t be too surprising that Richard Dunne also had a few microphones shoved in his face and of course was asked for his thoughts regarding some of the Irish players that Villa have been linked with recently.

He naturally spoke in glowing terms:-

Richard Dunne
Stephen Ireland is brilliant so, if he became available then absolutely I’d recommend him. But the manager does his own thing. Regardless of

Henry Hands Ireland Defeat, Time To Look For Real Solutions

Now that the international break is over without incident, and we know the 32 teams who will be competing for the World Cup in South Africa next year, it’s time to get back to Aston Villa. Wait, there was an incident? Oh, I have been out of the loop, haven’t I!

Alright, I’m labelling this 0% Villa, but I do have the less than tenuous link of Richard Dunne’s involvement and I’m going to exploit it to shoehorn

Unsurprisingly, it was a tight affair between our new centre back pairing, but Richard Dunne just edged it. Although not eligible, a special mention should probably be reserved for penalty king Brad Guzan.

International Villans Round Up

England

10 men England lost 1-0 to Ukraine in Dnepropetrovsk after Robert Green won the dubious honour of being the first goal keeper to be sent off for England. Fortunately Fabio Capello’s side have already qualified for South Africa next year and the Italian will be reasonably pleased with the way the team battled with a man down. Rio Ferdinand on the other hand…

Emile Heskey played 72 minutes and James Milner came on for the second half in place
