International Villans Round Up

England

10 men England lost 1-0 to Ukraine in Dnepropetrovsk after Robert Green won the dubious honour of being the first goal keeper to be sent off for England. Fortunately Fabio Capello’s side have already qualified for South Africa next year and the Italian will be reasonably pleased with the way the team battled with a man down. Rio Ferdinand on the other hand…

Emile Heskey played 72 minutes and James Milner came on for the second half in place of an injured Steven Gerrard. Gabby watched the game from the bench.

Ireland

Richard Dunne‘s side were in a real battle with Italy to top Group 8, but after the 2-2 draw with the Azzurri in Dublin they will be forced to settle for a play-off place.

Norway

John Carew‘s home nation have already completed their WCQ group and will be in the play-offs so took the opportunity to give South Africa a game in Oslo, winning 1-0. Captain Carew flicked on a Riise throw-in and Kjetil Waehler finished at the far post.

Togo

Sadly the world will be denied the opportunity to see the Togolese Zidane on the biggest stage as Moustapha Salifou‘s Togo crashed to a 3-0 defeat in Cameroon. Salifou played just the first 45 minutes.

Wales

Wales have already been knocked out the running for South Africa. Nevertheless, they still turned up in Helsinki and lost 2-1 to Finland. James Collins played the whole game, but probably doesn’t want to talk about it.

USA

Brad Guzan watched from the bench as the USA booked their place in South Africa with a thrilling 3-2 win in Honduras.
