Reserves Play-Off Final – Man Utd 3 Aston Villa 3 (3:2 Pens)

Man Utd Reserves were crowned 2009/10 Premier Reserve League National Champions tonight after what sounded like a thrilling game at Old Trafford, but needed a penalty shoot out to do so after coming from behind 3 times. Ben Foster the hero of the shoot out, saving twice and scoring one himself.

I didn’t see it myself, but followed the updates from various sources online, including the OS and Twitter. I’ve put the teams at the bottom and indicated the

FA Youth Cup Final 1st Leg – Aston Villa 1 Chelsea 1

The Young Lions roared at a damp Villa Park tonight in the first leg of the FA Youth Cup final, but could only manage a 1-1 draw against a skillful Chelsea team.

I had a few technical difficulties, but eventually tunnelled my way in to see the game. I missed the opening goal, but Daniel Devine nodded in Samir Carruthers’ cross with a looping header for the only goal of the first half. Chelsea reportedly had the better of

One Foot In Europe

Portsmouth were told yesterday that they would not be allowed to represent England in the Europa League next season, which is an entirely correct decision in my opinion. I know, I would say that, wouldn’t I? Let’s be frank; reaching the FA Cup final is a fantastic achievement and the fans deserve their day at Wembley, but the way the club has been run should not be rewarded with a jolly to Europe.

If I were in any way

Aston Villa Reserves Pick Up Silverware Again

Congratulations to our reserve side who have won the Barclays Premier Reserve League South for the third year running following their 2-1 win over Fulham at Bodymoor tonight. They still have a couple of games to play, but are 5 points clear of second place Arsenal with a game in hand.

As winners of the southern league, they’ll have to face the winners from the north in a play-off final in early May. Off the top of my head,

Aston Villa 0 Chelsea 3

The scoreline flatters Chelsea, every honest Blues fan will admit it.

The positives: we were fantastic during the first 45 minutes. Defensively immaculate from front to back. Chelsea weren’t exactly at their best and unforced errors littered their play, but take nothing away from the Villa boys who all knew exactly what they had to do and carried it out to the letter.

Of course, you know a major game officiated by Howard Webb would not be without controversy.

FA Cup – Aston Villa vs Chelsea – Matchday Build Up and Live Blog

I’m doing something a little different with this today. Any of the news links that crops up between now and kick off will appear here on the first page, with the latest at the top. Once again, the live blog will be mostly fed
